Rhodes throughout time presents significant economic growth, mainly through the tourism sector. That contributed in the development of different fields, such as the cultural one. In comparison to other fields of development, culture was falling behind mainly in terms of coherent, longitudinal planning, yet was characterized by an abundance of noteworthy infrastructure and venues that no other area in Greece has.

Our vision and our primary goal is to structure the development of the cultural sector, with European and International dimension, in the present and in the future, across the range of arts: music, performance arts, folklore, fine arts, filming, and art education. Our first priority is the support of the bonds that connect Europe with the wider area of the Mediterranean, and especially with the southeastern part, by creating knots of communication, interaction, solidarity and peaceful coexistence. Our vision is to make Rhodes a Creative Space. A space that attracts and nurtures creative people, through institutions, infrastructures and Creative Industries with longitudinal and not ephemeral planning, with high professional standards, closely connected with the civil society, the youth, the educational sector and the vulnerable groups.

Rhodes and the Dodecanese is the ideal space at the borders of Europe for the development of the European idea of Unity through Arts and Culture. Rhodes2021 is a cultural program under development. It emerged through dialogue for the needs of the citizens. Now, through synthesis and abstraction, the program will become more clarified, more robust in terms of structure, more professional, more realistic and it will highlight its European and Ιnternational dimension.

In its very essence, the mission and the vision is one! Journey to Culture; Journey to Knowledge; Journey to Arts; Rhodes and the Dodecanese to become a place of Creative People; of Artists, of Makers; of Citizens; of Visitors and of People that are looking for a better life in the security of the Democratic, Creative Europe.
